Current and former students recognize Debbie Andis for her years of service as director of choral and vocal music activities at Highland Middle School. Andis conducted her final performance in that capacity Tuesday night at Reardon Auditorium. During her 37 years of teaching, she was the director of choral activities and guard at Hamilton Southeastern middle and high schools, Frankton, Wes-Del and St. Ambrose Elementary. For Anderson Community Schools, she had been an elementary general music specialist/administrative liaison, and choral director at Northside Middle School, as well as Highland High School for 14 years. While she was at Highland, her students received many state, regional and national honors.
