Post 117 Commander Dewayne Dunn receives a plaque from Jon Cannady at American Legion Post 117 in Pendleton on Saturday. Cannady organized the Wagons for Warriors project and recognized the groups gold level sponsors on Saturday. The group donated collapsible wagons and household goods to wounded veterans at Walter Reed. Wounded veterans that are well enough to leave the hospital but still need physical therapy stay in apartments but have to cover a large distance from their parking place to the apartment, many of them amputees in wheel chairs. The wagons allow the troops to make fewer trips when carrying items from their cars. After delivering the wagons and seeing the soldiers gratitude and sacrifice the group plans to keep raising funds and buying wagons.
