Brothers Ian and David Bailey swim at the Alvin D. Brown Memorial Swimming Pool in Pendleton on Tuesday. The water slide at the pool has a fresh coat of orange paint as the community is volunteering time and raising money to help keep the pool open. But with a cold start to June keeping swimmers away like on Tuesday area pools still face challenges to drive attendance and stay open.
